Art and Copy
Created two 11 x 17 posters that use art and copy to display two sides of one concept. Each poster serves as a distinct yet connected portrayal of a societal situation that engages viewers in an exploration of perspectives.
The jewelry industry profits from such unreasonable standards that both ends of the market suffer while the middle man only prospers. In the style of Dada art, the collage poster shows the extraction of diamonds from the hands of children and unpaid laborers. Displaying this modern day slavery through Dada and chaos explores the absurdity that many people are incapable of understanding or choose to ignore. The other poster portrays a woman showing off her ring in the style of Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau is dictated by the whiplash line and a faux reality. The whiplash line was important to show hidden slavery within a capitalist and greedy system. While showing off a ring is exciting, there are extremities for the wearable piece of wealth that are being displayed.
